Looks a little cramped but it still looks like it could be fun. I’d have to skate it to judge it. The left-hand side of the euro confuses me a little cause it looks like is on the joint of the slopes which would not allow for the best maneuverability.
As you can see, the design is by WhoSkates, the people who sent me this e-mail wanted Grindline to design it.
WhoSkates has apparently designed a park for Colerain, Ohio as well.
Shouts to Matt Jamison and Jason Bash for forwarding this to me.
UPDATE:
I sent out a message asking when the park was expected to be complete and when it would be ready to ride and got this e-mail from Tom from WhoSkates:
“If the weather cooperates we will be done Friday but I’m not sure of when the City plans to allow skating. Concrete cures VERYYYY slowly this time of year so they may want to take a few weeks for this reason.”Friday I will send an e-mail the city’s way and see what they plan to do once the park is completed. Be sure to send me some pictures if the park is completed on schedule: OhioSkateUniv@gmail.com.

Colerain & Canal Winchester Skatepark Updates
i think that the skaters in canal need some where to skate because there is no where to skate and if they try to skate in town they get yelled at and often do damage to the stuff so they realy need a skate park

I live in Obetz we have the same problem. The streets are unsafe to skate in. Business owners yell at us and complain to our parents about our skating on their property. Customer tell the owner and we get yelled at. Residence tell the police and we are told about the complaints. Their is an ordinance prohibiting skating and biking on the streets. Where are we to skate & bike? We need a place to skate & BMX safely??

whens this park gonna be completed?
Comment by butthash — November 30, 2009 @ 8:19 PM |
They are probably still fundraising for the park so if you have the money contact the city and donate as much as you can. That goes for the miniramp too, you could get some people together and raise money to build one on your own and get permission to place it near the park.
Comment by ohioskateuniv — November 30, 2009 @ 10:11 PM |
it should be done near the 5th

This from the Town, sorry but happy Holidays all-
Tom: It will not be open for the holidays. We’ve had snow the last three days and it is too muddy to finish things up to the level that it needs to be at before it is open to the public. We will work on it through the winter as weather allows and will arrange for at least one if not two volunteer days in the early spring to put the finishing touches on landscape, fencing, etc. I talked with some of the kids and the skate shop on Friday and they seem to understand, we will publish something to the web tomorrow.

Thanks Tom, I’ll post this e-mail on the updates as well so everyone gets a chance to see it.
Comment by ohioskateuniv — December 21, 2009 @ 2:47 PM |
The skate park has been finished for almost a week and a half now, but we are not allowed to ride on it! Becasue of the following reasones: the cement has to cure for more than 30 days, they need to put a sidewalk from the bike path to the park(witch is only like 3 feet) and becase they havent landscaped and of the suronding landand they still want to put a fence around it. there are sighns posted that if you step foot in it you will be “arrested for crimanal traspassing” so dont expect to ride it any time soon.
Comment by Simon Myers — January 4, 2010 @ 10:35 PM |
I’ve got updates posted, the links are at the bottom of the post.
P.S.
Don’t get arrested. They are looking for volunteers for the landscaping(etc) in the spring, you should volunteer if you can it would be a good look for skaters and the right thing to do, be proactive in your community.
Comment by ohioskateuniv — January 4, 2010 @ 10:40 PM |
Guys, I’m so sorry that they won’t let anyone skate. Our last pour was on the 15th I think and with these temps the concrete will cure more slowly… but i am confident that it’s hard now!!
Try to contact the DPW and ask if there might be some times to arrange for a session, say Wednesdays and Fridays after school or something? Maybe try to work with the skate shop to be more legit? I know the guys at DPW and they are super cool and behind the project so work with them and maybe you can get somewhere.
I’ll also send an email to them right now.
