Cincinnati — Police say the owner of an Ohio sports bar took an 11-year-old girl’s skateboard at gunpoint and has been charged with armed robbery.

Police say 50-year-old Jack Connerton was angry over children cutting through his parking lot on skateboards. He was arrested on the felony count Saturday after police say he pointed a gun, took the girl’s skateboard, and snapped photos of four children.

The girl’s mother, Misty Bragg, says neighborhood children have to pass Connerton’s Towerview Sports Pub in Cincinnati to get to a recreation center and park. She says they stay on the sidewalk and are respectful.

Bragg says police seized Connerton’s camera and got her daughter’s skateboard back.

Phone calls to Connerton weren’t answered Tuesday.

  1. I am a mother of a skateboarder. I am always on the side of kids who want to get exercise and use ‘green transportation’. But in this case I know these kids. These kids terrorize neighborhood kids & school children. They run the streets and have been talked to by the local police many times. They have no respect for adults or police. I have seen them attack many other kids & even 75 year old women. In this case I feel sorry for the bar owner. This is not the case of a skatboarder being mistreated. Its the case of kids in serious need of parental supervision.

  2. Nevertheless, I don’t think that excuses pointing a gun at an eleven year old girl. Seeing as you are a parent, I would guess that you would be horrified to hear that your child had a gun pointed at them for riding their skateboard and their skateboard taken from them.

  3. I find it hard to believe this man actually pulled a gun. Every time this brother/sister duo gets in trouble (and there have been many times) they say this person spit on me or they pulled a knife or a gun. I would be outraged if how the story read were the facts but that is simply not the case. There was no gun & they were riding on a wheelchair ramp on his property. He had asked them to leave several times in fear they would be hurt & he would be liable. That is when he took the skateboard & took their pictures.
